Mainstreaming Biodiversity Conservation in Corporate Functioning

LEAD India hosted a two day side-event at the Eleventh Conference of the Parties (CoP XI) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) in Hyderabad, India, from October 11-12, 2012. We developed a policy brief which was incorporated in the CBD proceedings.

Presentations and case studies were given by LEAD Fellows and other industry experts on the significance, perspectives, practices, regulations, issues and challenges corporates face in mainstreaming biodiversity conservation. Panel discussions were also held focusing on biodiversity conservation in the Infrastructure Development, Energy and Mining sectors with representation from government and industry experts including ArcelorMittal (steel and mining), IDFC (infrastructure finance), IMC (International Mining Consultants) India, KREDL (Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited), NMDC (National Mineral Development Corporation), Ramky Enviro and Suzlon  Foundation (wind power).
