GEN NXT Programme: Building Youth Leadership for Sustainable Future

Mineral Foundation of Goa (MFG) engaged LEAD India to hone the leadership skills of the ‘Green Students’ and to groom them to advance to the stage of action to address the issues and challenges of sustainability. A batch of 30 school and college students, aged between 16-24 years at various stages of their school / college education underwent the training.

Based on the LEAD design principle, the training enabled the participants to envision social and environmental development in their schools, colleges, own communities and develop an individual or group action plans with the guidance and mentoring from experts.

Post the knowledge, skills and self-awareness sessions, the students were given the experience to understand various urban and peri-urban issues, challenges and initiatives to address those. In doing so, they interacted with many stakeholders related to the issue of waste management in Panjim.  Post field visit, participants shared individual and group project ideas and received valuable feedback from the mentors. Currently, the students are being mentored by LEAD Fellows and are implementing the diverse projects they conceptualised.
